The "Buddies" St Mirren are based in Paisley and have been a regular competitor in the top flight of Scottish Football. Although they have never won the league, the Paisley "Saints" have won the Scottish Cup on 3 occasions from 6 finals and the League Cup once from 3 attempts. They are also the only Scottish side to win the old Anglo-Scottish Cup. Managed by savvy Northern Irishman Stephen Robinson, St Mirren for me are hard to beat at home and arguably too strong for most of the lower 6 clubs in the division home and away.
2023/24 TRANSFERS:
Comment: St Mirren are another Scottish side reliant on mainly Free transfer signings and the occasional loan to stay at the top end of Scottish football. This summer has seen a "splash of cash" though with Conor McMenamin arriving for a fee and the adventourous signing of Stav Nahmani from Israel proving intriguing. Fees have been pocketed to balance the books from the sales of Brophy, Finlayson and a total of 10 players coming off the wage bill. Erhahon left 6 months prior for a fee too helping club funds.

The public fall out of manager vs Trevor Carson is for me a big blow to St. Mirren's aspirations for the coming season. Carson was quality last season and reliability and experience go a long way in the Scottish top flight to helping clubs stay up or contest the euro places. St Mirren should get enough points bagged in Paisley and pick up some on the road to stay in the division but following last season's top 6 might be a bridge too far. Last season I tipped Trevor Carson to be key and Keanu Baccus to breakthrough - both duly delivered.
Key Players: Mark O'Hara, Ryan Strain & Stav Nahmani
SS Breakthrough Player: Kieran Offord
Opinion on GK order: Zach Hemming (1) Peter Urminsky (2)
Players With International Utility:
Trevor Carson - Northern Ireland
Alex Gogic - Cyprus
Keanu Baccus & Ryan Strain - Australia
Alex Greive - New Zealand
Conor McMenamin - Northern Ireland

As it stands I'm not 100% sure if St Mirren will continue with the same formation that served them well last year. they may opt for this. McMenamin is primarily a winger so to accomodate him Tanser has to move centrally. Strain was statistically the best player in Paisley last year so unless Baccus is sold I cant see the right side of the St Mirren team changing too much. Ayunga, Mandron and Grieve will contest to play along side Nahmani & McMenamin
